  • Summary: A Ship Towards Orisia features a lineup of newer members putting a vampiress on the run in the company of a cowboy bounty hunter and a snarky pirate—almost sounds like the makings of a bad anime, but hear this one out. This RP takes some odd archetypes and puts together a story that flows easily, balances action and dialogue, and has plenty of laughs thanks to the comic relief provided by Suta. Later additions to the cast add more dimension to the tale and overall- this is an impressive RP.

The story starts with Diego having a flirty evening with Antika, and she lures him off to try and talk him into a little necking. He declines such an offer with a firm no, but not much can come of that altercation, since they are first interrupted by a smart-mouthed pirate who intended to rob the pair but found the awkward situation a bit of a turnoff for moonlight pillaging. The exchange nearly goes volatile, but enter a new conflict where the newest additions actually want to kill someone- it ends well though.

After explanations and payment, Antika, her servant, and the odd duo board a ship bound for Orisia. Sanu displays his commendable sea legs by promptly falling on his arse, recovering just in time to go flirt with the only present living female. Another assailant after two parties does battle with Diego in a match of bullets versus magic, explosions included. The noise brings out a few stowaways who end up found by Antika’s servant.

Later, everyone meets at dinner, and one guest decides to carve a bit of vampire instead of meat, and well, that went over as well as expected. Thing settle down, with the knife happy lass under control, Sanu still having no luck with the ladies, and Diego nursing some serious anger. Throw in a ninja-ginger whose motivation is unknown, and a pair of brothers whose relationship is fun to follow, and you have the end of a thread leading into a sequel.
Why Should You Vote for it: It might not feature a 'star studded cast' but there is some fine RPing here with a solid story and good character portrayals. The shout-out has to go to Suta here though, for this this was a movie, there would definitely be a nod for Best Supporting Actor.

  • Summary: Dupes of Imposture is the story of an unlikely trio of heroes coming together to stop a great evil facing Dougton- true to that 1950’s horror movie fashion, this is a story about body snatchers at their worst, taking over a city, involving the use of tentacles (*shudders*). While the concept is perhaps a bit of a classic, this thread provides plenty of fresh material through seasoned RPers producing fantastic- and often hilarious- material. Want to know about the legendary octopus-ham? Yeah, read on.

The thread starts out with Noel, a young man afflicted with a fraternally based inferiority complex, putting up a notice requesting aid in recovering a kidnapped wife. The way that half of its text is crossed out and revised might explain why only one person responded to the ad- young Preston, a lad with a lisp and an endearing desire to be a hero. Shortly after, an herb smoking Coconio Synchro-shaman joins, and despite misgivings of each other, decides to go forward with the plan to subdue the Gnomish housewife.

The original plan to subdue her with Noel’s magic (while Preston distracted her) backfired when the Shaman’s octopus head (previously thought an ugly hat) opens its eye, startling Noel. The spell hits everything, producing enough tentacles to make the quota for the next three years of smutty anime, as well as giving life (and tentacles) to condiments and a ham. The woman gets away, leaving behind a brood for Noel and Preston to find. Etan (the shaman) goes after her while the other two destroy the brood. The ham, meanwhile, sets out on a quest to feed everyone, building a legend.

The three eventually reunite while Etan battles the woman, who through spiritual connection based magic is revealed to actually be alive, shoved into the back of the gnomish woman’s mind. After battle, the parasite bails from the woman and makes it to the sewer, where it infects a rat. The town is alerted to strange happenings and likens it to a terrorist threat caused by an unnatural- with Noel possibly involved.

    This thread is still ongoing.
Why Should You Vote for it: A star studded cast with certainly memorable characters who are all fun to read in their own way. Adding to that is a genuinely creepy tale balanced out with hilarious complications provided by Desolate- you’ll really enjoy the bit about the condiments.

  • Summary: The Regent Kicks Back is one of those threads where you read it, and you try to make sense of it, and your brain just refuses to do it—and I mean that in the best way. Entertaining because of how random it is, the one you expect to be the straight man is nearly as off-kilter as the clearly mentally-ill character. This is a rollercoaster ride of strange.

The RP starts out with the new regent (Seras) having to clean himself up for the first time in a long time- and it is implied that it might have been a decade (you wonder how he got the gig). He starts his day pestering guards and stealing clothes. Meanwhile, a woman (Kaori) runs through the crowded streets, stomping on people’s feet with stiletto, she hell-bent on recovering her lost love- a ball of rubber-bands. She ends up lying in the dirt.

Dastino, seeing the woman on the ground, thinks to help her. For his efforts, she stabs him in the hand with a hidden dagger, pissing him off and causing him to cuss her out. The regent, taking this the wrong way, grabs the man and threatens him, demanding he apologize to her. All the while, a demoness (Xu) stands by, watching curiously.

Dastino refuses, and Kaori demands he be put into her service for a week of washing her feet. The Regent declares that there will be no slavery, giving an impassioned speech. Dastino points out that he had just made threats against him, but the Regent coolly plays it off as ‘wanting to be friends’ and invites the lot back to his place.

At the mansion, Kaori suddenly proposes, and surprisingly, the Regent agrees- only to stop and ask what her name is. It does not stop the engagement and some sort of (drugged) wine is brought out shortly thereafter. The Demoness makes her reasons for being there known- offering services for an unstated price. Karori gets out of control again, but the Regent puts her out, and leaves to attend to her.

    It’s a strange thread.
Why Should You Vote for it: This is a particularly bizarre thread, but things go together in a way that suggests there will be branching stories coming from this, so not only do you get a read that will leave you dumbfounded, but one that leaves you wondering what comes of all this.

  • Summary: The Tea Party is an event thread surrounding the birthday party for Raspberry Dugrace, an extravagant affair held under an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme, specifically ‘A Mad Tea Party’. This is a very long thread with a lot of subtleties to it that will require readers to pay close attention to appreciate all that was taking place- there were threads that spun directly off this one. To give a straightforward summary of this thread is not feasible, given its size, so I am going to have to write this loosely.

The RP starts out with everything set up and a very excited little girl waiting for the arrival of entertainers and guests, discussing how much different being six is from being seven. Her sister Dollya sits to the side, brooding. The first entertainer to arrive is the mad-hatter, who picks up right where the discussion on ages ended. Soon, Zenahriel arrives, presenting a pony- it creates quite the stir. Shortly after, the caterpillar shows, smoking something foreign. True to the white rabbit’s fashion, the one playing the white rabbit is also late, and makes a production of it.

The Queen of Hearts makes her appearance as well, following her classic pursuit of other people’s heads. Leo the Knight shows, and shortly after, the March Hare in a particularly off-putting costume shows up, giving little Raspberry the gift of a gnasher egg, disguised as decoration. A little later there is a Cheshire cat, whose appearance is brief, as well as the Dormouse. Topaz and her strange puppet makes a showing too. Other knights come too, as well as the older brother and eventually the captain of the guard.

What all happened? Gifts were given, a woman was molested at the table, seats were switched and songs were sang. Dollya got high and fondled the March Hare, only to turn vicious later. An argument broke between Dollya and her love interest and so she storms off. The March Hare eloquently requests he be excused to use the facilities, and in doing so, a servant and a squire go missing. A fight nearly breaks out, and many little plots are started.

There is much more, but I hit the word limit.
Why Should You Vote for it: This role-play brought together many talented writers and in the scope of a birthday party either laid out or eluded to plots that involve Orisia, Genesaris, and even to some degree Terrenus. What should strike the reader in this thread is the subtly presented and how unaware parties were of others darker motivations. The thread comes back with humorous moments, particularly surrounding the more eccentric Alice in Wonderland characters.
